If you are on this Earth, there is a high probability that life has not always gone your way. Life isn’t what we see in a 30-minute sitcom with a resolution occurring in half an hour. The beauty of our not-so-perfect world is that we all carry different “pieces” with us if you will. We ALL carry a mosaic within us. Some of us carry broken pieces related to our health, our childhood, physical differences we may be born with, broken or strained family relationships, pieces of us that remain after being in toxic work places, pieces of our children (both living or that have gone before us)… The list goes on. Together we share the PIECES and the COLORS of our lives, our experiences, the lessons we’ve learned, and most importantly what we can make of it all in our time on this terrestrial Earth. I have already written and published a bilingual book, which has always been a dream of mine. But now, I am running with this new venture of a blog. I hope to share pieces of the mosaic of life that I have either personally lived, or may have heard along the way.
I will share a short story of when my husband and I visited the Basilica of La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona Spain. We were there on our honeymoon almost exactly 10 years ago. It was a place we dreamed of visiting together, so we made it happen May of 2016. When we entered this incredible structure, we were frozen in place. The way the light comes in FROM ABOVE through the stained glass windows is one of the most beautiful sights I have EVER seen. No photos or videos could ever do that feeling justice. There we stood together, admiring the architecture, the COLORS, the different angles, the different COLORS that showed up even in the same spot, but at different times of the day.
I imagine that that is how God sees us. He looks down on us from ABOVE. We were all made in his image, but we are all so different. Different angles, different personalities, different colors, different strengths and weaknesses. No two days shine the same way in that church, but each day does shine. Each and every day (while it may not always seem this way when we are going through challenging times) has its own beauty. We all have something important to share. We were all born for a reason, and we all have a purpose. Oftentimes we feel broken, misunderstood, unimportant because of what has happened or is currently happening in our lives.
The thing is we ARE broken because we are imperfect, but we are beautiful together.
